Brecon Town

With its narrow compact streets and Georgian facades, this charming old market town is regarded as one of the most historic locations in Wales and tells tales of time gone by. Situated where the rivers Usk and Honddu meet, the latter giving the town its Welsh name of "Aberhonddu". The restored canal basin and 8 mile stretch of canal towpath is a great attraction. For culture, seek out the 12th century Cathedral & Heritage Centre, The Regimental Military Museum of the Royal Welsh, and Brecknock Museum and Art Gallery. Theatr Brycheiniog has an aclectic mix of entertainment through the year, appealing to everyone. Brecon offers many places to eat and stay - the monthly Brecknock Farmers Market is the biggest in the area.

More active visitors will enjoy the outdoor shops, bike hire and the Taff Trail cycle path from Brecon.
